Teaching Fellow, Creative Suite
About
Karla Acosta is returning to the OSS community as a Teaching Fellow after graduating from OSS in 2018. She recently earned her B.A. from Brown University, where she double-concentrated in Modern Culture & Media and Latin American & Caribbean Studies, graduating with honors after completing a thesis examining how streaming platforms and algorithms shape what audiences see, choose, and understand as diverse representation. Her background spans television and media studies, film and television production, radio, and podcasting.
Karla first created and co-hosted her podcast, Popping the Bubble, while she was in high school and continued developing the podcast throughout college, strengthening her interest in storytelling and creating space for thoughtful conversations and diverse perspectives.
As an OSS alum, returning to the school feels especially meaningful, and she is excited to come back to a community that played an important role in shaping her own growth and to support a new generation of students as they develop their voices, curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Outside of school, Karla loves spending time with her family and friends, attending concerts and live sporting events, and building LEGO sets.
